Germany ranks fourth with installed solar PV capacity

Germany has the fourth largest solar PV capacity in the world (46 gigawatt [GW]), German Solar Association (BSW) has said in a press release. But the former front runner has in recent years been overtaken by China (174 GW), the US (63 GW) and Japan (60GW), the association said. Germany will run solar PV tenders for an additional 4 GW capacity by 2021. The country aims to have renewables share in electricity consumption of 65 percent by 2030 after reaching around 38 percent in 2018.
